Thursday: Begin reading Arthur Miller's The Crucible. Friday: Finish reading Act I of The Crucible. Monday: KWL on early Americans and origin myths; read "The Earth on Turtle's Back," complete mini-quiz, and photo essay illustrating main details of the origin myth.
Tuesday: Receive second set of 10 vocabulary terms, construct 10 sentences (with 5 being compound sentences) using 10 of the 20 vocabulary terms, quiz over 20 terms on Friday; independently, read origin myth "When Grizzles Walked Upright" and complete reading comprehension quiz; analyze Dave Matthews' "Don't Drink the Water." Wednesday: How to write compound sentences using vocabulary terms; read children's book concerning origin myths for different Native American tribes; create you own origin myth (2-3 pages).
