Tuesday: USA Test Prep in Computer Lab. Wednesday: Read "The Story of an Hour" and complete worksheets on providing textual evidence, discussion questions, plot summary, and theme analysis. Thursday (Wickham Out for EOC Proctoring): Allow time to compete worksheets given yesterday in class. Watch "Trifles" and compare the females characters seen from Victorian era. Friday: Review "The Story of an Hour" prior to EOC Testing on Monday & Tuesday next week. GET REST THIS WEEKEND! EAT A GOOD BREAKFAST ON MONDAY! REPORT TO CL 2048 FOR 1ST BLOCK.

Tuesday: Introduce Realism, Regionalism, and Naturalism PPT; begin reading "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge." Analyze the story's organizational pattern. Wednesday: Finish reading short story. Response to Reading Strategy questions regarding organizational pattern of Bierce's short story. Thursday: Vocabulary Sentences Activity. Allow time to complete questions from the textbook on "Owl Creek." View Section II & III of Hitchcock's adaptation of "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge." Friday: Vocabulary Unit 6 Quiz Monday: American Literature Touchtone Q1 TEST; Begin writing comparison between excerpt from "Self_Reliance" and "The Elements of Success"
Tuesday: NO SCHOOL Wednesday: Receive first ten vocabulary terms for Vocabulary Unit 6; Read Thoreau's excerpt from Walden, "Where I Lived and What I Lived For" Thursday: Finish reading Thoreau's excerpt and take a walk outside to experience the nature Thoreau discusses in Walden. Friday: Media Center Computer Lab to type comparison body paragraph (timed-assignment as EOC writing component is timed); Poetry Analysis of Walt Whitman's "I Hear America Singing" on CommonLit; Copy last ten terms of Unit 6's vocabulary using PPT available in Vocabulary tab. |
